Episode Twenty Nine – Municipal Waste

Municipal Waste is gonna fuck you up!

We’re both a bit crabby and cynical today, but don’t let that dissuade you. We’ve still got a show full of great music for you with one of the best thrash bands around. We give you a review of the Metal Alliance tour, talk about Phil Anselmo’s upcoming solo album, wonder who’s going to see Black Sabbath, and agree that nostalgia tours suck ass.

Episode Twenty Eight – Yeske’s Picks

This episode marks the first of (hopefully) many guest shows. The idea is to bring on one of our metal-loving friends and let them co-host and pick a playlist of their all-time favorite metal songs. That way, we can listen to some great tunes while not having to just listen to the two of us drone on about them.

This week, good friend and guitarist extraordinaire Jon Yeske joins us, bringing a great mix of classic metal and newer tunes. We hope you have as much fun listening as we did recording.

Episode 27 – Steel Panther

In this episode, we marvel at the beautiful absurdity of Steel Panther. I mean, come on. How can you not shake your head and laugh when you hear a title like “It Won’t Suck Itself”? Is it juvenile? Sure. But if you were around for the 80s hair metal scene, you know that Steel Panther’s parody isn’t far off the mark.

Sadly, it’s not all fun and games this week. Our news is a bit on the somber side as we discuss the final chapter in the Randy Blythe trial, and bid fairwell to Clive Burr of Iron Maiden.

Episode Twenty Six – Testament

We’re back!

It’s Testament time! We decide that if there was a “Big Five” of thrash, Testament would fit right into that spot, discuss Diamond Dave’s recent rant about the dysfunctional clusterfuck of the band known as Van Halen, and give you a quick review of the Soundgarden concert. Quick spoiler: it was…okay.

Beyond that, John subjects Craig to a sports-themed Metal Or Not? And there are probably some butt jokes in there somewhere too.

Episode Fifteen – Metal Jukebox

For this episode, we took to Twitter and asked, “What are your top three favorite metal tunes of all time?” We took the best responses, put them into a playlist, and spit them out here for your listening pleasure. As it turns out, you guys really like Metallica! Who woulda thunk it?

And outside of reading a few of your comments and tweets, that’s the episode. All metal, all the time! We hope you enjoy!

Episode Eleven – Holy Grail and Concert Review

This week, we continue to slobber over the greatness of Valient Thorr with a concert review, also featuring The Kickass, Royal Thunder, and Holy Grail. We were so impressed with Holy Grail that we decided to feature them in our band of the week. If you’ve not heard of them, you can find out all about this great, shredding band here.

Also, back online this week is a full version of Metal or Not (thanks to @Tropizm for finding a fix).  Check the MoN page and cast your vote.

It’s a bit of an abbreviated show this week, but what can we say? We’re old men and that concert left us longing for a nap. We’ll be back in full force next week. We promise.

Episode Six – Slayer

Today, it’s…SLAYERRRRRRRRRRR!!! The kings of thrash metal get the royal treatment, we pay our respects to MCA, wonder why Glenn Danzig is such an asshole, deliver some GWAR news, and talk about Metallica’s new book. In addition, Craig talks about some recent releases, gives you a new scenario for What Would Lemmy Do?, and almost loses Metal or Not.

This week’s last song is The Strongest Dead Man Alive by The Kickass. You can find it here.

Thanks for listening!

Episode One – Motörhead

Thanks for checking out the first episode of Metal Up Your Ass! It’s a new Party Casino, so please bear with us as we figure things out. We’ve already made a bunch of notes for episode two and the show will flow more smoothly as we nail down the format and become more comfortable. Also, we’re not on iTunes yet, but will be in the coming weeks.

In this episode, we discuss Megadeth, Kiss, Motley Crue, Motorhead, Metallica, and Valient Thorr. You can watch that Valient Thorr video here.

We’ll cast a wider net on future episodes, as well as hitting lesser-known bands. I know we have quite a few metal fans in the DGR audience, so I encourage you to send us your suggestions.

Thanks again for listening!
